wow!! great job on all of your cakes!! praying for God to bless you and your business. BTW I am a cake decorator. from Florida US . Be blessed
Rose, your work is great! I can’t believe what a wonderful job you do with small sculpted figures (they’re not easy)!
Hi,
Your cakes are amazing. Very clean and crisp. You are a million times better than Cake Boss. You should have your own TV show not him. How can I learn to make figures? I want to make 2 just like the couple you have getting engaged on the mountain for my son’s wedding. They also got engaged on a mountain top.
Hi Laurie, thank you for taking a look at my cakes. After doing a search on Google, I came across these tutorials that might help you out: http://www.eat-the-evidence.com/tutorials/fondant-figure-modelling-101/ or http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JvSRY-JAfpk.
This website also offers many figure tutorials that you can pay to view: http://www.extraicing.co.uk/
I tend to prefer using gumpaste or modelling chocolate instead of fondant because it tends to hold it’s shape better.
Hope that helps!
Rose
Amazing work! And inspiring. Thanks for sharing your work.
Dear Rose,
Thank you so much for the email. Your cakes are amazing. Have you ever done a mountain cake. I am planning to one for my sons wedding in May and could use some tips on how to do it. I am afraid of it collapsing from the weight if itself. Do you think I could just put each layer on tip of each other or do you think I have to have some type of support between the layers?
Laurie
Hi Laurie,
Thank you for taking a look at my cakes. Here’s are some photographs of a mountain cake: http://rosesen.wordpress.com/2011/09/04/mountain-cake/. Yes, if the mountain cake is over 6 inches high, I generally do suggest cake board and doweling support to be on the safe side.
Hope that helps,
Rose
Thank you so much for the advice. I think I will try some practice cakes while I still have time. Thanks again. I will send you a picture when I make the cake.
Laurie
Thanks to you!! I’m a fan! You are very talented and very humble by sharing your knowledge to the world
